Dr. Shikha Singh :Professor & Head

Dr. Shikha Singh completed her graduation from Jaipur Dental College and Hospital, Jaipur in the year 2006 and postgraduation in the specialty of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics from D. Y. Patil Dental College and Hospital, Pimpri, Pune, DPU University in 2012. She has over 11 years of teaching experience and has been a postgraduate guide since 2016. She has international and national publications and has chaired scientific sessions.

COURSE INSIGHT:
Department of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics primarily deals with correction of malposed teeth, jaws & face in general. This discipline involves comprehensive alignment of teeth with fixed braces to achieve a harmonious facial appearance and a perfect smile. The dedicated and highly experienced team of staff provides state of the art teaching as well as training in the most advance techniques with the help of world class equipment/instruments. Undergraduate programme is designed to enable the qualifying dental surgeon to diagnose, analyze and treat common orthodontic problem by preventive, corrective & interceptive orthodontic procedures. Post-graduate programme devotes considerable portion of time to advanced training in the treatment & management of patients with the help of state of art armamentarium & latest software. Post-graduate training also involves lectures, independent research activities, paper presentations, & scientific publications.

KEY RESULT/ ACTIVITY AREAS
1. Undergraduate training with emphasis on diagnosis, treatment planning & fabrication of orthodontics appliances.
2. Interns are trained in various basic orthodontic procedures.
3. Postgraduate program includes advance orthodontic training in latest techniques & procedures. Dedicated didactic programs which include various seminars, journal clubs, case discussions, case presentations and interdisciplinary sessions are conducted.
4. The department has a very good inflow of patients and has an average OPD of 42 patients/day from varied background. Each postgraduate student treats around 40-45 new cases and on an average 20-30 transferred cases of varied malocclusion including severe Dentofacial deformity needing surgical correction.
