Dr. Meenakshi Khandelwal : Professor and HODDr. Meenakshi Khandelwal heads the department.She completed her BDS & MDS from Government College of Dentistry, Indore (M.P.). She accomplished her PhD in Dental Sciences from PAHER University, Udaipur (Raj). She is committed to academics with key interest towards research. She has served in the field for more than 18 years. She has authored many books and has numerous scientific publications in National and International journals to her credit. |
COURSE INSIGHT:
Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge and Implantology deals with restoring and maintaining oral function by replacing missing teeth and other maxillofacial structures by designing a life like prosthesis, thereby rehabilitating the lost function, esthetics and mental well-being of the patient. The training program is structured to achieve knowledge and skills in theory, clinical work, laboratory techniques, communication skills and ability to research The Department of Prosthodontics offers undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses and integrated learning courses for interns.Undergraduate Course
The undergraduate program begins with preclinical work and theory classes wherein the BDS first and second year students are taught the basics of dental materials and preclinical prosthodontics. Simultaneously the students are made to work on the same so that they gain a fair knowledge of the subject. Students of Third and Fourth year are trained in their clinical postings where they understand about patient communication, diagnosis, treatment planning and the actual treatment. The internship program encourages the students to improve their clinical skills by performing various treatment procedures like complete denture, removable partial denture and introduction to fixed partial denture.Postgraduate Course
The Three Year postgraduate program is designed to provide dental surgeon with advanced training in prosthodontics and enables them to acquire detailed knowledge of principles that involves development of technical skill. The students are exposed to different and challenging maxillofacial and prosthetic rehabilitation cases through independent study, demonstration and practice. A series of seminar and lectures course are available each quarter. The students are encouraged to participate in National and International level conferences and conventions to showcase their research and innovation.PhD
With the rich infrastructure and excellent research opportunities, the PhD program helps to pursue research and attempt to discover new diseases, methods and treatment processes. It is a skill based program that aims at building a career as a Dental Technician by training in areas of laboratory work in fabrication of complete dentures, removable and fixed partial dentures, dental technology and operating relevant equipments.KEY RESULT/ ACTIVITY AREAS
