Dr Tarun Sethi : Professor & Head
Dr Tarun Sethi is a professor and Head of Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry at Rajasthan Dental College and Hospital, Nirwan University. With a passion for his field and a commitment to academic excellence, along with team of dedicated faculty, the department share a common goal to provide high-quality education and innovative research opportunities. Dr Tarun Sethi has 12 plus years of experience in Pedodontics. He has published numerous papers in reputable journals. He is a graduate of 2002 batch from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health sciences, Karnataka and post graduate of 2009 batch from Saraswati Dental College Lucknow He has a fellowship in treating obstructive sleep apnoea cases. He is dedicated to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment that promotes academic success and innovation.

COURSE INSIGHT:
Paediatric and Preventive dentistry exists because children have dental and orofacial problems as much as adults have and needs intervention, prevention and correction at the right time. It also deals with instilling a positive attitude in the child. All the treatment procedures such as endodontic, aesthetic, corrective, trauma to the hard or soft tissues, oral pathologies, preventive and interceptive orthodontics of a child upto the age of 14 years is done in the department. Special or differently abled child are also treated with utmost care. Preventive dentistry deals with the all sort of procedures that are done for caries prevention such as sealant application, fluoride therapy, atraumatic restorative treatment etc. The department is well equipped with all the necessary infrastructure to help treat a child in the most comfortable and friendly way.

KEY RESULT/ ACTIVITY AREAS
Undergraduate Course
The undergraduates are taught about handling a child in the dental operatory through psychological approach. They are expected to record case history, and perform the basic procedures such as restorations, oral prophylaxis, exodontia, pit & fissure sealants, topical application of fluorides and carry school dental health program.

Postgraduate Course
The post graduate curriculum involves training for 3 years in the specialty practice and treatment procedures pertaining to the oral health of children, other than such as preventive treatment strategies, surgical treatment of cyst & abscess, space maintainers, early detection and correction of malocclusion and habit breaking appliances.
• There are 9 Postgraduate Students in MDS Specialty Program, with 03 students per batch gaining premier education during their course.
• The students in the Department are first trained in Artificial Stimulation Lab and later given a free hand to work on patients.
• A diverse spectrum of treatments ranging from Infant Oral Healthcare, Diet Counseling, Habit Interception, Preventive and Interceptive Orthodontics, Surgical and Non-Surgical Pediatric Endodontics, Exodontia, Oral Hygiene Reinforcement Protocols and Fluoride Application are routinely practiced in the department. • In addition to these modalities, Single Sitting Endodontics, Conscious Sedation, LASER, Full Mouth Rehabilitation under General Anesthesia (GA), Oral Implantology and Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) are integral part of intensive postgraduate training.
